Homeopathy is a natural medicine that supports the immune system. With as minimal and mild a stimulus as possible, the homeopathic remedy, the resistance is stimulated to such an extent that the patient’s symptoms are overcome again. The self-healing mechanism that was previously inactive gets moving again. Homeopathy does not fight the ‘culprit’, a bacterium or virus, but strengthens the resistance. Not the disease but the sick person is treated. This is an essential difference from mainstream medicine.
For emotional complaints, a homeopathic treatment strengthens the psychological bearing in a similar way.
In other words, a homeopathic treatment works from within, has no side effects, is effective and safe.
The foundations of homeopathy were laid over 200 years ago by German physician Samuel Hahnemann. Since then, generations of homeopaths around the world have deepened and expanded the knowledge of this medicine.
Homeopathy falls under Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM).
The starting point
Lots of substances such as plants, minerals (e.g. mercury) or animal products (e.g. bee venom) cause certain disease symptoms in healthy people. If a homeopathic remedy is made from the same substance, that remedy can actually cure the same symptoms in sick people. This is also known as the similarity principle or the ‘Similia’ rule.
The homeopathic medicine
Homeopathic medicines are made from plants, minerals or animal products. Through a process of repeatedly diluting and shaking the starting substance (potentisation), the medicinal effect of the homeopathic medicine is expressed.
Homeopathic medicines do not suppress, do not produce habituation or dependence and have no side effects. They are therefore ideally suited during pregnancy, breastfeeding and for babies and children.
